About 4K Video
As video standards have continued to improve over the years, new videos are being produced using the higher resolutions to replace the older poorer quality videos.
Newer larger displays are typically set to HD (1920 x 1080) or higher resolution. So, older videos of 640 x 480 resolution (for example) will be almost too small for viewing in their native resolution on these larger displays (big screen televisions). If expanded to fill the screen, they become too blurry.
So, the introduction of 4K video has started a new wave of fresh higher resolution video content from around the world. These are giving us a new and improved look at other places and cultures. The video at the top of this page is recorded in 4K resolution. New video camera technology is required to record in 4K, and the new standard uses up much more storage capacity for those editing and producing in that resolution. More powerful computers are also required for editing in 4K resolution.
